Imagine A Friend
My first novella.
Next week I will be putting up some Christmas stories – some of which are from AND OTHER STORIES, the best present you could give anyone for Christmas – but for now I want to show you the cover for a book I’ve got coming out in March.
Nadia Shireen, who wrote GRIMWOOD and is one of the funniest writers I know, called IMAGINE A FRIEND “a sensitively written fable about making childhood friends, losing them - and trying to find them again. Really lovely.”
See if you agree with her!
It’s called IMAGINE A FRIEND and it’s a short novel – a novella, if you will – about two friends, Louie and Marcie. You can probably guess the theme from the title.
I wanted to write something a bit more emotional than usual, a story about two kids who are best friends until something goes wrong. It’s about growing up, remembering the past and not doing what everyone says you should do. There’s also an ice cream man.
IMAGINE A FRIEND is out on March 10, 2026 via Stars and Sabers Publishing, and the beautiful cover art is by Kim Herbst.
